The Japanese word raku has two translations, one focusing on `enjoyment, relaxation and pleasure` and the other on the attribute of being `easy or comfortable.` raku aims to offer you `an easy-going and relaxing way to experience the benefits of quality green tea and to appreciate the artistry, aesthetics and skill of Japanese tea-ware and homeware.` The focus product for raku is the raku-cha brand of teas. raku-cha translates to `enjoyment of tea.` We hope to develop tea culture in Australia as we believe that the health of Australians has much to gain from replacing some of their less-healthy beverages such as heavy milk-laden coffees and teas and sweetened juices and soft-drinks with low-cal antioxidant-rich green tea.
Japanese green teas are renowned for their superior quality, having catered to the discerning Japanese customer for centuries. Most of the raku-cha line of teas are from the Shizuoka region of Japan, one of the three prime green tea producing regions in Japan. The high-end raku-cha products, namely gyokuro and matcha green tea powder are from the Uji region, near Kyoto, which produces some of the highest quality green teas available anywhere in the world. raku is based in Brisbane Australia, with a representative office located in the prime green-tea producing area of Shizuoka Japan. This enables raku to maintain close face-to-face ties with the selected tea producers and suppliers and provides an effective quality control measure.
